CRO organizes training workshops for the communities in Mbale, Jinja,Lira and Masaka on a quarterly basis. These workshops are carried out with the purpose to sensitize the communities on child rights, the plight of street children and ways to support them.
The trainings focus mainly on;
- Child rights and responsibilities
- Women's rights
- Good parenting habits and parental responsibilities
- Sensitization and prevention of HIV/AIDS/STI and care for people affected and infected with HIV/AIDS
- The role of the community in preventing and caring for street children
Strengthening the income of the families is a key factor in preventing children from coming on the streets. CRO has helped to start many businesses with parents and guardians: Selling food stuffs, charcoal and clothes, to mention a few.
The small businesses have enabled parents and guardians to improve their livelihood and support their children in school.
